Description

The influence of geopolitics on our lives has not felt so great since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Geopolitics never went away but the speed of geopolitical change, particularly over the last 12 months, has surprised and startled many observers. The Russian and Ukraine war has highlighted the inherent vulnerabilities in our supply chain, whether it be energy, food or the raw materials we need to satisfy our demand for technology. It has brought into question the rules-based international system which has been the bedrock of international politics since the end of the Second World War. It has drawn into stark relief the polarised world we now inhabit.

  • What does this mean for us as individuals and businesses?
  • What are the implications of the new Cold War we seemed destined to endure?
  • How will that impact our economy?
  • How do Western democracies manage the conundrum that is China?
  • How do we meet the challenge of climate change – and its own geopolitical impact – in an increasingly polarised geopolitical landscape?
  • And how will technology impact geopolitics?
